Two ways to pick up your Bike MS weekend packet and shirt early:

1) Join us for light snacks and ice-cold beverages at our premier bike shop sponsor, Western Bikeworks. While you’re there, take advantage of the exclusive Bike MS 15% discount on select merchandise. Wine, coffee and beer will be available for purchase at the WBW café.

To ride on Bike MS weekend, you must raise a minimum of $250. If you need any help in reaching your minimum, please email me or check out these sweet fundraising tips.

Just remember – the funds you (or your friends) raise help those who live with MS right here in Oregon and SW Washington, and fund research that will lead to a cure.

There is Always Important Educating To Do: Meet Mike Volpe

A couple of weeks ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Mike Volpe. A 30-year Corvallis resident, Mike has a bachelor’s degree in forestry and a Masters in ESL, and he worked in those fields until his MS forced him to retire in 1993.

The MS did more than that – it took away the use of his arms, legs and much of his sight. It has also made it more difficult for him to talk. But despite the decline of his physical functions, Mike has put his very intact brain and tenacity to work, advocating for people with disabilities. He also lives independently in a Corvallis apartment complex.
